This presentation will focus on the post TBI cognitive deficits that are most likely contributing to challenging behaviors and
will offer participants suggestions and strategies on how to neutralize the behavioral responses of the survivor due to
deficits in executive cognitive skills (memory, attention, safety awareness, problem solving etc.). Illustrative case histories will be incorporated to demonstrate how the right strategy can effectively assist the survivor to moderate their own behavior through improved cognitive functions. A comprehensive digital handout will be provided that includes a summary table, for future reference, illustrating:
-- A specific challenging behavior
-- A specific cognitive deficit that is likely contributing to the behavior
-- Specific strategies to employ when the challenging behavior occurs.
