BOP Kids Walk for Kids with Cancer 2025

Volunteer Opportunities

Join us for a fun and meaningful day at Central Park on Saturday April 5, 2025! We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help create a smooth and enjoyable experience for all the BOP Kids Walk participants.

Shifts are available starting at 8:00 AM and ending at 12:00 PM. Times vary. Check out the available roles and sign up to be part of this exciting event! When you arrive day of you’ll meet us at the Naumburg Bandshell (Terrace Dr. Near, W 72nd St, New York, NY 10019).

Greeter – Welcome & Guide Participants

📍 Location: East 72nd Street & Fifth Avenue OR West 72nd Street & Central Park West
👥 Volunteers Needed: 4

Be the friendly face that welcomes participants as they enter Central Park! Volunteers will be stationed at key points to guide walkers toward the Band Shell. Additional volunteers will be positioned along East and West Park Drive to ensure participants stay on course and follow the correct path.

🏅 Bib Distribution – Get Everyone Ready to Walk

📍 Location: 15’x15’ tent at the Bandshell
👥 Volunteers Needed: 6

Help runners and walkers get their race bibs efficiently! Volunteers will:
Direct participants to the correct line for bib pickup.
Check names on an alphabetical list and hand out bibs.
Provide safety pins for bib attachment.
Assist unregistered participants with the QR code registration process.

👕 T-Shirt Distribution

📍 Location: 10’x10’ tent at the Bandshell
👥 Volunteers Needed: 4

After receiving their bibs, participants will head to this station for their event t-shirt. Volunteers will:
✔️ Instruct participants to tear off their t-shirt tag from their bib.
✔️ Distribute the correct t-shirt size.
✔️ Collect raffle tickets and place them in the raffle box.

💧 Water Stations – Keep Participants Hydrated!

📍 Location: East Park Drive, West Park Drive, & Finish Line
👥 Volunteers Needed: 6

Volunteers will set up and manage water stations along the course and at the finish line:
🔹 Set up tables with water cups.
🔹 Pour water from bottles into cups.
🔹 Ensure all bottles and cups are disposed of properly.
🔹 At the finish line, hand out bottled water to participants as they cross.

🧋 Refreshment Tent – Help Fuel the Walkers

📍 Location: 15’x15’ tent at the Bandshell
👥 Volunteers Needed: 2

Assist in providing refreshments from Think Coffee! Volunteers will:
✔️ Set up snack tables.
✔️ Remove the pull tag from participants' bibs for coffee & pastry distribution.
✔️ Keep the area clean and restock snacks as needed.

🎒 Volunteer Tent & Gear Check

📍 Location: 15’x15’ tent at the Bandshell
👥 Volunteers Needed: 3

Be the go-to person for volunteers and gear storage:
🔹 Check in volunteers and assign their roles.
🔹 Direct them to their designated location.
🔹 Manage gear check by securely storing bags and ensuring bib tags are attached.
