Talia said that when she first met Leila, who was 12 years old at the time, “Leila wanted something and she didn’t know exactly what she wanted, but she was going to get there, and I was just there to kind of pull it out of her.” Through the care, guidance, and attention of her Big Sister, Leila found that “something” in the future she dreamed of: being an independent adult.
