BUCK A BOOK celebrates 34 years of inspiring young readers!

Since 1992, the BUCK A BOOK Reading Program has encouraged York County students to love reading by offering family-friendly prize incentives to participants who read and raise funds to support free adult education programs at York Literacy Institute. Students discover that reading is fun and empowering!

During reading weeks, January 12-25, students can read alone, with friends, or parents and grandparents can read to young children - it all counts towards the total number of books read!

Prizes are delivered in the spring. In June 2026, we'll celebrate and recognize our super readers at a Revolution Baseball game.
