About 10th Annual Century Ride
Join us in celebrating the 10th Annual UHCCF Century Ride. This is your chance to ride 62-miles or 100-miles for an amazing cause. We'll be riding along the beautiful Lake Minnetonka shores and over the rolling hills of Delano, while we we raise money for children's medical grants. Or, do the virtual ride and choose your own schedule and course. Pick the ride that works best for you and get ready to have a great time!

In-Person Rider Registration is $100 | Virtual Rider Registration is $50
Fundraising Requirement:
Each in-person rider agrees to fundraise a minimum of $1,000 at the time of registration. If you are unable to raise the full amount by July 18th, 2021 the credit card you registered with will be run for the remaining balance. Virtual riders do not have a minimum fundraising amount but are encouraged to fundraise.

In-person riders who register BY June 1, 2021 will receive a specially designed Borah jersey and the standard level appreciation gift box prior to the event.
- Standard Level Appreciation Gift Box (fundraised amount of $1,000 - $2,499): Specially designed Borah Jersey and Cycling Jacket, 10th Annual Century Rider T-Shirt, Spyder Long Sleeve Pullover Half Zip, and a Yeti 18oz Rambler Bottle.
- Tier 1 Level Appreciation Gift Box (fundraised amount of $2,500 - $4,999): Standard Level Appreciation Gift Box items plus Urban 1000 Commuter Combo.
- Tier 2 Level Appreciation Gift Box (fundraised amount of $5,000+): Standard Level Appreciation Gift Box items, Urban 1000 Commuter Combo, plus a Spyder Transit Jacket.
In-person riders who register between June 2, 2021 and July 18, 2021 OR virtual riders who fundraise at minimum of $1,000 by July 18, 2021, will be sent their standard level appreciation gift box excluding the specially designed Borah jersey after the event.
All money raised from registration fees and fundraising efforts go directly towards providing medical grants to families in need.

- 12:00 Noon – 4:00 p.m. - BBQ Luncheon, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, live entertainment by the Mud Dogs Band, Marketplace, and more.

Founders Story
In 2012, several leaders from UnitedHealth Group began raising money for the Susan G Komen foundation as part of the Mother’s Day 5K walk/run in Minneapolis. As part of the fundraising effort, Jeff Meyerhofer recruited Dave Wichmann (then CEO of UnitedHealth Group), Rob Webb (President of UnitedHealth Group Ventures), Kevin Knarr (EVP Operations and Integration) and Mike Connly (CIO of Optum) to “auction” off their time to participate in a 30 mile cycling ride within the Minneapolis area. Ric Blanchard (retired UHC) and Helmut Braun (COO of UMR) were the winners of the auction for a little over $1000. With the help of Dan Cohen (head of Optum Performance), Jeff coordinated the 30-mile ride.
Given the competitive nature of this group, what started out as a 30-mile cycling ride became a 100-mile Century Ride to raise money for UHCCF. Over the course of the following weeks, each rider raised money using a make-shift website titled “Ride with the Leaders” and plotted the course. In the end, the team raised $50,000 and rode a rain soaked, curb jumping, and unsupported course in the west metro of Minneapolis.
Now deemed “The Original Eight”, these individuals have helped to pave the way for the UHCCF Century Ride which has grossed over $3.47M since inception. In addition, Century Ride is our anchor to the overall UHCCF Hope Ride Cycling Series which includes five cycling rides and one Fat Tire Bike event.
In 2021, we look forward to celebrating the 10th year of the UHCCF Century Ride with a target to raise more than one million dollars for UHCCF medical grants.
Meet our Grant Ambassadors
We will be joined by our 2020 - 2021 Grant Ambassadors to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the UHCCF Century Ride. Meet Salma, Kin, Madison and Tyce along with their families and hear firsthand how your support impacts the life of a UHCCF grant recipient.
Madison - Madison was born in December 2008 and initially failed all newborn hearing screenings. A few months later, she was diagnosed with unspecified sensorineural hearing loss and fitted with her first pair of hearing aids. Alongside of that she enrolled in expensive speech therapy sessions three times a week to help catch up developmentally. Since then, she’s excelled in school and volleyball. In February of 2018, she was awarded the "Yes I Can" award in the technology category from The Council For Exceptional Children for her FM system.
Kin- Kin was born with a rare and complex health condition called Cloacal exstrophy (OEIS Syndrome). It is comprised of a combination of defects resulting in the need for AFO’s, forearm crutches and consistent catheterization. While this condition presents many challenges, Kin doesn’t let it stop him from doing all of the activities he loves. For Kin that means the freedom to run around with his friend and participate in his favorite hobby, karate.
Salma - Salma was diagnosed with spastic paraplegia at the age of three. Since then, Salma has been involved in extensive physical and occupational therapies to help her to improve her neurological functions and as well as to help her to adjust to life in a wheelchair. She has developed great relationships with the therapy staff and her community, a hugely impactful and empowering feeling for this five-year-old.
Tyce - Last summer, on a long road trip and out of the blue, Tyce’s life changed. That was when his mom and dad discovered that he had Type 1 diabetes. Tyce was quickly admitted to the hospital and the whole family was immersed in a new world. Like most children, Tyce has a fear of needles and so the constant shots and pokes that come with this illness were almost unbearable. As the family continued to navigate this new normal, Tyce’s anxiety around the consistent monitoring of his sugars grew. A UHCCF medical grant enabled Tyce to move to an insulin pump instead. This means that he no longer has to endure the needles or the anxiety that came with it. He can also spend more time with his siblings jumping on the trampoline and riding his bike around the neighborhood.
