What is Chefs Cycle for No Kid Hungry?
Chefs Cycle is an annual fundraising campaign for No Kid Hungry, driven by chefs and the culinary community. In 2025, we celebrate its 10th anniversary. The campaign culminates in a 2-day, 200-mile cycling endurance ride through Oregon’s high desert, where participants of all abilities celebrate their fundraising achievements. Riders commit to a $4,500 fundraising minimum to support No Kid Hungry.
Where is Chefs Cycle and how do I get there?
Chefs Cycle 2025 is in Bend, Oregon.
Riders receive 2-night accommodations at Riverhouse Lodge.
Riders are responsible for travel to and from Riverhouse Lodge, including flights, trains, or cars.
How does my bike get to Bend?
Riders are responsible for traveling with or shipping their bike to Riverhouse Lodge. We will recommend shipping services and timelines to ensure your bike arrives on time.
How long is the ride?
Chefs Cycle 2025 is 200 miles over two days (100 mi/day).
We also offer a 100 km route (approx. 60 mi) each day for those who prefer a shorter distance.
Which route should I select?
You can choose which route you would like to ride each day. We encourage you prepare for and train for all 200 miles. You have plenty of time! The key is to finish with a smile!
Is there a map of the routes?
Route maps will be available in April 2025.
How far do I have to ride at once?
There are 5-6 rest stops, including a lunch stop, each day. We provide snacks, hydration, and fuel at each stop. SAG vehicles will be available if you need a break at any point.
What support is provided during the ride?
We provide full on-road support with SAG vehicles, mechanical assistance, and medical support throughout the event to ensure your safety and comfort.
Do you have training resources?
Yes! Chefs Cycle will share training plans with riders in November 2024. Our Pro Coach, Maddison Russell, is available for additional personalized training. Email Maddison at mrussell@trainright.com.
Is the event chip-timed?
No, Chefs Cycle is not timed. This ride is not about speed - it’s about ending childhood hunger, together. Period.
Do I have to follow the rules of the road?
Yes, riders must follow all rules of the road for a safe ride.
REGISTRATION & PARTICIPATION
How much is registration per person and what is the fundraising commitment?
Early Bird Registration, before December 15, 2024: $100
December 16, 2024, or later: $150
Required fundraising minimum: $4,500 per rider
Is there I deadline to register?
There is no formal deadline to register; however, we encourage you to register early to take advantage of Early Bird pricing and to ensure ample time for training and fundraising. You must meet the fundraising minimum regardless of when you register.
Can I withdraw from the event?
If you are no longer able to attend the ride, notify the Chefs Cycle team by May 1, 2025, to avoid being held responsible for the fundraising minimum. If you withdraw after May 1, 2025, you are still responsible for the minimum.
What happens if I can’t meet the fundraising minimum?
Riders who do not meet the required individual fundraising minimum by June 20, 2025 will be charged via the card on file of the remainder of the funds. You will receive notice from the Chefs Cycle team before your card is charged.

I can’t ride, but I would like to volunteer. How do I sign up?
Volunteer opportunities will be available closer to the ride. Check HERE, or email chefscycle@strength.org.
LOGISTICS & TRAVEL
How do I get to Bend?
The nearest airport to Bend, OR is Redmond (RDM) Airport, about 20 minutes from Riverhouse Lodge. Portland, OR is about 175 miles from Bend. There is plenty of parking available at Riverhouse Lodge should you choose to drive.
Do you provide accommodation?
Registered riders are provided with a 2-night stay at Riverhouse Lodge from June 2-4, 2025. Additional nights are available at the group rate at rider expense.
Am I guaranteed a single room?
NO. Unfortunately, due to capacity and the number of riders, we can not accommodate all requests for single rooms. Should you be placed in a double room with a roommate, we will notify you before confirming room assignments.
Are spouses/families welcome?
Yes! We strongly encourage all guests to volunteer for one shift during the event. If a spouse or family member is joining you in Bend, please reach out to the Chefs Cycle team for more information on their accommodation and volunteer requirements.
Are rental bikes available?
Yes. Rental bikes will be available for a fee. More information will be available in early 2025.
FUNDRAISING & DONATIONS
What fundraising resources are available?
Riders have access to our Resource Portal where there is a plethora of fundraising tools, including email templates, instructions for hosting restaurant events or brand promotion, soliciting sponsorships, reaching out to your network, and more. The Chefs Cycle team is on standby for any fundraising questions or assistance needed.
Where does the money go?
Your support helps end childhood hunger for good. Every dollar donated can provide a child with 10 meals. No Kid Hungry connects kids to programs like school breakfast and summer meals, and uses donations to provide grants, supplies, and assistance to feed more children. Your donations also help recruit new meal sites, improve school breakfasts, and teach families to prevent hunger at home.
Do I have to fundraise, or can I simply pay the minimum fundraising commitment at the time of registration?
Either is fine! However, we encourage sharing your campaign with your network to inspire donations and advocate for No Kid Hungry's work.
What is the fundraising deadline?
June 20, 2025. If you haven't met the minimum, the card on file will be charged the difference. Fundraising pages remain open until June 30, 2025.
Can I still fundraise once I meet the required minimum?
Yes! While the minimum is $4,500, we encourage riders to aim for $7,500 or more. You’ll have access to fundraising tools to help exceed your goal. Every donation counts, and we’re here to support you.
How do I fundraise?

How can I see who has donated to me?
Log into your participant center and choose "Raise at least $___" option on the left side navigation. From there click the "Thank Your Donors" tab. You will see who has donated and who needs to be thanked.

How do I make a donation?
Click the "Donate" button in the upper-right corner, then search for the team or participant, or make a general donation.
Why does No Kid Hungry ask for so much donor information?
Yes, in the U.S. No Kid Hungry is a registered 501(c)(3). Visit the No Kid Hungry website for more details.We need this data to create accurate donor records and provide tax acknowledgements. It is not used for solicitation. Contact chefscycle@strength.org with any concerns.
Are donations tax deductible?
Yes, in the US. The No Kid Hungry campaign is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For more details regarding financial information, please visit the No Kid Hungry website.
How do I get a tax receipt?
Donors receive a receipt via email for online donations, and by mail for check donations.
What is the No Kid Hungry/Share Our Strength Tax ID Number?
Our federal tax identification number (also known as our employer identification number or EIN) is 52-1367538.
Who should checks be made payable to?
Make checks payable to Share Our Strength – No Kid Hungry Campaign. Include Chefs Cycle 2025, the participant’s name, and/or team name in the memo to allocate the donation properly.
Where do I mail checks?

What is a team?
A team is a group of two or more riders sharing the Chefs Cycle experience. Each team has a profile page to highlight its members and story.
How do I start my team?
You can start a team during registration or create one later in your fundraising dashboard.
How do I manage my team?
OneCause offers tools under "Manage your team" to customize your team name, goals, and message. You can also communicate with your team and manage notifications.
How can I join a team?
Join a team during registration or from your fundraising dashboard.
How can I invite someone to join my team?
Use the "Invite friends to join" tab to recruit friends via email, text, or social media. You can also track outstanding invitations.
Can teams combine their fundraising efforts?
While each rider must individually meet the $4,500 minimum, teams are encouraged to collaborate and organize joint fundraising efforts. Funds raised can be distributed among team members to help meet individual goals. Each riders’ fundraising page must reflect a minimum of $4,500 raised on June 20, 2025.
