A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds. This doesn't have to happen. Children’s Bureau is a private nonprofit providing child maltreatment prevention and mental health services to approximately 49,400 children and parents each year.

We are thrilled to be putting on our first month-long walkathon in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April!

About National Child Abuse Prevention Month

Designated as a national month of observance since 1983, April is a month for communities to dedicate themselves to playing an active role in preventing child maltreatment and taking positive action to support children and families.

As President Obama stated in his 2016 Presidential Proclamation, this is a time when "we recommit to giving every child a chance to succeed and to ensuring that every child grows up in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment that is free from abuse and neglect."
