Clean Water Campaign With Chandler

About Help Chandler Build A Well

Chandler's goal is to raise enough money to build a well with Well Aware before the end of the year! Help Chandler reach her goal by donating.

Meet Chandler Beamer

Chandler is now on a mission to raise $5000 to provide that clean water system.

This project will provide safe drinking water for both a primary and secondary school, serving a total of 1250 students.

The pipeline will also be a primary source for about 700 additional people in the village!

Meet the community of Ndatani, Kenya

The village of Ndatani, Kenya, is located approximately 100 km southeast of Nairobi. Without reliable rainfall and little industry, the community is poor and the residents have few opportunities for improving their economic status.  The majority of the villagers are poor subsistence farmers. Women and children commonly walk long distances (up to 5 km round trip) to retrieve water from the river when rainfall is scarce.  There are no clean water supplies available to the villagers and as a result diseases such as Typhoid are common place.

Water resources in the region are limited.  The Ndatani primary school does harvest rainwater but the water is untreated and the current set-up is not sufficient to provide water through the dry season. When there is no rainwater the school children and the villagers haul water from the Athi river (and from hand dug pits in the river bed when the river is dry).  This water is extremely unsanitary as it is shared by wild animals and livestock as well as the people.

Providing the school children of Ndatani primary and secondary schools and the village with a clean and reliable water source is imperative for the success of the community as a whole.

This project would provide drinking water for the primary and secondary schools (total of 1250 day students) as well as 100 village families (~700 people) through a short pipeline with a water faucet at the edge of the school property
