With our nation’s history of systemic racial and economic oppression, DREAM recognizes that children living in low-income housing do not receive equitable access to educational and enrichment opportunities, which can be pivotal experiences in shaping a young person’s future.

Over the last 18 years, DREAM has worked to close the opportunity gap by providing youth in low-income housing with deeply committed college student mentors, local and regional adventures, summer enrichment programs, and support for post-secondary and career success. With contributions like yours, we are able to serve over 400 children in Vermont, Philadelphia, and Boston.

I am particularly grateful for your donation at a time when COVID-19 has been exacerbating social inequities across the country, most greatly affecting low-income communities where DREAM serves. Even during a pandemic, our children deserve to feel safe, connected, and cared for.

In the last twelve months, we have worked tirelessly to shift our programming so that DREAM is responsive to the needs of our children and families. In fact, 95 percent of DREAM mentees report that their mentor has been someone they count on for support throughout the pandemic.

Our work is far from over though. That is why your generous donation is sincerely appreciated, as we look to roll out greater academic support and new resources for “distance mentoring.” Your gift, along with our organization's commitment to equity, will help us meet both the practical and sociological needs of the communities we serve, particularly during the pandemic.
