Echos of hope for kids like Kellin.
At just 11 years old, Kellin’s blood pressure was 182 at a routine checkup — dangerously high. No chest pain. No headaches. No warning signs. On the outside, he looked like a healthy, active kid — an all-star baseball pitcher. But inside, something was critically wrong.
An echocardiogram, a specialized ultrasound of the heart, revealed the truth: Kellin had been born with a severe narrowing of his aorta. Without immediate treatment, he could have suffered permanent heart damage — or worse.
Because our Pediatric Cardiology Clinic had the right equipment and expertise, we caught it in time. Kellin’s heart — and his future — were saved.
