Fundraising Tips & Tricks
Thank you for fundraising for YWCA Minneapolis and Empower Possible
Download our Ambassador Toolkit for in-depth planning resources and recommended language to share with your networks. To help with your outreach, below you'll find a list of tips and tricks for being a dynamic Circle of Women fundraising ambassador.
- Start early. The sooner you start asking for donations, the more time you'll have to grow your fundraising efforts.
- Create a list. Think about who is in your circle of influence that you can ask for a donation. This can be friends, family, co-workers, workout buddies, etc. Remember, it doesn’t hurt to ask so build the biggest list you can by including everyone you know!
- Set a fundraising goal. Your fundraising goal is just the beginning. Many fundraisers find they can exceed their goals, so set a personal stretch goal. Aim high!
- Make a personal donation. When others see you leading by example, they'll be even more motivated to join you in supporting YWCA Minneapolis.
- Send emails to your list and share on social media. Announce your participation and provide a link to your personal fundraising page. You never know who you might be connected to who is passionate about YWCA Minneapolis' mission. Sample email and social media templates are available for you within your personal page.
- Make it personal. While we provide some information about YWCA Minneapolis on your page, your friends and family will be much more motivated to donate by reading your words and story. Tell them why you're supporting YWCA Minneapolis and what the organization means to you! The more personalized, the more inspired your friends and family will be to donate to your cause.
- Ask your employer about matching gifts. Many companies offer matching gift funds for your philanthropic efforts. Check with your Human Resources department for more information to see if your company has a matching gift program.
