The USO strengthens America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation.
Since 1941, the USO — a private, nonprofit organization — has served the men and women of the U.S. military, and their families, throughout their time in uniform — from the moment they join, through their deployments and as they transition back to their communities. Although the USO is a congressionally chartered organization and works in close partnership with the Department of Defense (DOD), the USO is not part of the federal government.
Last year alone, the USO provided more than 10.4 million total service connections to our military members and their families while operating more than 250 USO locations globally. Locally, whether through our warrior care and morale boosting programs at Nellis and Creech Air Force Bases in Nevada and Hill AFB in Utah to family-strengthening military family programming at Malmstrom AFB in Montana or Mountain Home AFB in Idaho, the USO provided a ‘touch of home’ to 113,793 service members across Nevada, Utah, Idaho, and Montana in 2022.
Behind the scenes, the USO is a family of volunteers, sustained by the charitable contributions of millions of generous Americans united in their commitment in supporting America’s service members by keeping them connected to the very things they’ve sworn to defend — family, home, and country.
