#PinkPower #FlamingoChallenge Guidelines
1. Accept the Challenge. When flamingos and yard signs land at your location, the challenge is on! You can also pick up your own flock of flamingos at First Commerce Credit Union locations to start your own challenge.
2. Set a Fundraiser Goal within your organization. Once you have accepted the challenge, set a goal to raise. You can donate, start a fundraiser, or pledge proceeds from a special promotion at your business. Get creative! Let your employees wear jeans on Fridays for a $5 donation! Every penny of your tax-deductible gift stays local and benefits local breast cancer patients.
3. Enter to win! Everyone that donates will be entered into a drawing to win a $250 gift certificate to Steel’s Jewelry.
4. Get Social. Share that you/your business has accepted the Flamingo Challenge and show off your flamingo flair on social media. Tag @FirstCommerceCU and @SGMCHealth and use #PinkPower #FlamingoChallenge and #BreastCancerAwareness.
5. Challenge Others and Move the Flock. Decide who you will challenge to join the fun. Describe the campaign and its fundraising purpose and ask if they are willing to participate. Repackage your flock and deliver to the next participant. For maximum impact, try to move your flock within 3-5 days UNLESS you love your flock too much, and you can donate $1,000 to keep your flock all month long!
6. Make Your Donation. Continue raising funds and awareness throughout October. Submit your donations to the SGMC Foundation by Nov 10th. You can give NOW by clicking the Donate Now Button!
You can mail or deliver checks to: SGMC Foundation P.O. Box 1727 Valdosta, GA 31603. Please make checks payable to SGMC Foundation and include “Flamingo Challenge” on the memo line. Donation questions? Call 229-433-1076
7. Let the Flock Fly Home! If you have a flock on October 31st or later, please send the birds home to roost by dropping them off at any First Commerce Credit Union location!
Did You Know:
Worldwide, 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1,000 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Annual mammograms are critical to early detection. The funds raised through The Flamingo Challenge will be used for education and awareness for breast health and preventative screenings. Additionally, these funds will help cover the cost of custom garments needed for some patients as they rehabilitate after breast surgery. By supporting The Flamingo Challenge, you are directly impacting the lives of the women in Valdosta and our surrounding counties who are fighting breast cancer.
