​At SungateKids, we help child victims of abuse find and use their voices through our prevention, investigative interviewing, and therapeutic support programs. We are committed to creating a community where children are safe and free from abuse, and changing the way we think and talk about it is the key. As adults, we often think we are helping children by keeping quiet about abuse. But at SungateKids, our three decades of experience has taught us that silence is a tool of the abuser, and the best way to fight child abuse is to talk about it. Talking about child abuse can make the difference for any kid, whether it means preventing them from becoming a victim, allowing them to get out of an abusive situation, or helping them heal from trauma. At SungateKids, we address all of this work with hope, not fear, and with professional expertise and compassion at every step of the way. We believe that children who are victims of abuse and children who witness violent crimes can and should be treated differently than adult victims. That's why for the past 26 years we have focused on creating a system that is sensitive to the needs and developmental levels of children as victims and witnesses.

To ensure the response is professional, trauma-informed and victim-centered, SungateKids' expert forensic interviewers work together with Law Enforcement, Child Protective Services, the District Attorney's Office, and medical and mental health professionals using a multidisciplinary team model.

• On-site mental health services including therapeutic support groups and individual counseling

• Comprehensive abuse prevention education programs, and

• Referrals for a host of other resources and support services
