885 E Mennonite Rd, Aurora, OH 44202

Registration: 7:00 a.m.
1-mile walk start time: 8:00 a.m.
5k Run start time: 8:30 a.m.

This event is family-friendly, stroller and wheel-chair accessible. All are welcome including kids and four-legged friends! The 5K portion of the event will be a chip-timed race.

We are doing something new this year - giving YOU the opportunity to create your own fundraising page and compete as an individual or as a team. The Gift of Life 5K is a great opportunity to gather your friends, family, gym buds, co-workers or random acquaintances and form a team to compete not only for best race times but for most money raised to support Hattie Larlham. Teams are easy to create and like most activities, the Gift of Life 5K is more fun when you're competing with someone else. Learn more here!

Why Participate?

Get ready to tackle 3.1 miles at  Sunny Lake Park! Participants will enjoy a trail run that covers the gorgeous grounds of the park around a stunning and serene lake. Hit the trail, cross the finish line, and celebrate with delicious donuts and games.

Be sure to invite friends and create a team! Each top individual fundraiser and top team fundraisers will earn special prizes! Donuts, coffee, friends, and sunshine - it doesn't get much better than that!

The best part of all - by participating in the Gift of Life 5K and 1-mile walk for Hattie Larlham, you’re raising awareness and vital funds for the children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities that Hattie Larlham serves. Your fundraising efforts will introduce your friends, family, coworkers, and acquaintances to Hattie Larlham’s mission of providing comfort, joy, and achievement to our participants and residents with disabilities.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

Your support through the Gift of Life 5K helps raise funds that expand the variety and frequency of recreational opportunities that are provided for residents at the Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities, at our community homes, and for those who participate in our adult day programs.

Every resident is different – but all residents have opportunities to explore the community through our recreational program. Providing engagement both in the community and at Hattie Larlham facilities is critical to supporting the developmental needs of every person, regardless of ability.

Be sure to use #run4hattie when training or at the event!  Throughout the Summer, we will randomly select people using the hashtag and send them training swag! Follow us on Instagram (@hattie_larlham) and Facebook for a chance to win!

At this time we are planning to hold this race in person as originally planned. However, as we continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and the guidelines issued by the CDC and Governor of Ohio, Hattie Larlham may choose to convert the event to a virtual race to ensure the safety of all participants. If this happens, we will notify everyone who has registered at least one month before the race is to take place (no later than August 12th).

All registrations will remain valid and you will have from September 12th - September 30th to complete your run or walk and submit your time (if you are registered for the 5K). All registered participants will receive their race t-shirt in the mail in advance of September 12. Any medals and prizes earned will be mailed at the completion of the event (after September 30).

Even virtually, this event is still a great opportunity to raise funds for people with disabilities and to challenge yourself!
