2019 Habitat 500

About 2019 Habitat 500

The Habitat 500 is a bicycle ride (not race) and fundraiser that covers a maximum of 500 miles over the course of 6 days. 3-day and 1-day options are also available, each with a shorter total distance.

  • 1-day Ride (Loops on Sunday, July 14 or Tuesday, July 16)
  • 3-day Ride (Sunday, July 14 through Tuesday, July 16 or Wednesday, July 17 through Friday, July 19)
  • 6-day Ride (Sunday, July 14 through Friday, July 19)

We are basing this year's Ride around three home base communities. This allows us to alternate between loop days and travel days to the next community. Each of the loop days will offer different distance options--a standard day's distance of approximately 70 miles, and a long loop that will allow riders interested in riding the full 500 miles the ability to do so in six days.

Each rider raises funds from family, friends, businesses, and church groups and designates the Habitat for Humanity affiliates they wish to support (both locally and around the world). This ride is coordinated and hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota.

Each rider is required to pay a registration fee and raise funds.

Registration Fees

  • $400 (Regular, 6-day Ride)
  • $300 (Early-bird and all 1st year riders, 6-day Ride)
  • $200 (3-day Ride)
  • $100 (1-day Ride)

Fundraising: 6-day or 3-day riders must raise a minimum of $500, and 1-day riders must raise at least $250.

Each year is a new route; we tour around Minnesota visiting Habitat affiliates, Habitat work sites and Habitat homeowners along the way (in addition to roadside attractions). Habitat affiliates serve as our local hosts for overnight stays.

A key component of the ride is to raise awareness about the need for decent, safe, affordable housing. In this regard, we are in contact with all forms of media to generate coverage and we find the ride is a very attractive story for newspapers, radio, TV, etc. - we bring a lot of excitement wherever we go.

How Your Support Helps

Every year in Minnesota over 30,000 individuals contribute their time, effort, and skills to building or repairing over 330 Habitat homes.

In 2018, we broke ground on the 2,600th new Habitat home to be built in Minnesota.

About Habitat for Humanity Minnesota
