The 7th Annual Hartford Latino Fest will be taking place at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford on Saturday, June 25th from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be entertainment, performances, music, dance, vendors, and other activities.

The Hartford Latino Fest is partnering with Connecticut Foodshare and hosting a food drive to achieve food security for everyone in our local community. Any amount is appreciated, and no donation is too small. Every dollar donated provides two meals!

Catholic Charities - Institute for the Hispanic Family in Hartford is the beneficiary of all food and monetary donations of this event.


Connecticut Foodshare is the food bank serving the people of Connecticut and a member of the national Feeding America network. Last year, nearly 47 million meals were provided through a network of more than 700 community-based hunger relief programs, including food pantries, community kitchens, emergency shelters, mobile food pantries, and more; while also working on long-term solutions to alleviate hunger. 

In Connecticut an estimated 428,000 people are experiencing food insecurity, including 110,000 children.

If you choose to donate a food item at the event on June 25th to benefit Catholic Charities - Institute for the Hispanic Family in Hartford, some preferred items that are in high demand in the Hartford community are:

  • Arroz Blanco (White Rice)
  • Habichuelas Pintas (Pinto Beans) Gandules (Green Pigeon Peas) Habichuelas Blanca (White Beans) Black Eyed Peas
  • Aceites (Vegetable oil, canola oil, olive oil)
  • Fruta enlatada. Canned fruit.
  • Vegetales enlatados. Canned vegetables. (Corn, carrots, beets, green beans, okra etc.)  
  • Guiso enlatado. Canned stew.
  • Pescado enlatado. Canned fish.
  • Canned Collard Greens/Kale
  • Sweet Potatoes (Can or in Bag)
  • Candied Yams in a can
  • Adobo
  • Sazon
  • Turn Up Greens
