Hot Chocolate Run 2019 for safe passage

Thanks for visiting my Hot Chocolate Run fundraising page! I'm participating in the Hot Chocolate Run for the fourth time, in the 16th Annual Run on December 8, to support Safe Passage – the Hampshire County organization building safety, hope, and justice for families who have lived with domestic violence. I’ve signed up for the Road Race this year, not the Fun Run! That means I think I can actually turn in a not embarrassing time, although I don’t think the front-runners have anything to worry about.
It is really important to me to raise money for them because, when I was in my early 30s - a while ago! - before I met Jim and our daughter was not yet on the earth, I volunteered with a place called Child and Parent Support Services in Durham, NC, where I was living at the time. I played with the kids, abused, neglected kids, while their parents or guardians got counselling. After a bit, the organization asked me to be on the board. Even though it was a tiny agency, it was doing really needed work. When I moved to this area I really wanted to do similar volunteering, but with a small child - my daughter was three - and ever more demanding work, I have not been able to contribute as a volunteer. And I don't have a lot to contribute monetarily (although I do make a contribution every year beyond the race entry fee). So in lieu of being able to do that kind of volunteering, fundraising to bring Safe Passage is really important to me so that I can feel I've contributed to an organization helping kids as well as adults.
WIll you help me make a difference for families affected by abuse? So many of you have been generous all three years, and I so much appreciate you making it possible for me to contribute to this great organization, which provides counseling, shelter, legal help, and so much more.
All contributions are tax-deductible, and you’ll receive an emailed receipt immediately after you donate.
I would love it if I could reach my goal before December 1 so that it will be apparent in my bib number how generous you all have been. The more an individual raises, the lower their bib number and I have been very proud of my low numbers the past three years. (And I’d love to not have to nag for too long too.)Thank you!!!
