Job Description


The Hill Country Ride for AIDS (HCRA) is the largest fundraiser in Central Texas for HIV/AIDS services. A family-friendly and festive bike ride through the beautiful hill country, the Ride raises funds that are given directly to nine local nonprofits who help those in our community affected by HIV/AIDS.


The Ride Director is responsible for the overall management of the organization and for the provision of leadership for development and implementation of the Ride and a number of smaller events as articulated by the Board of Directors.  The Ride Director is responsible for all aspects of day-to-day operations of the organization including, but not limited to, the following:  supervise staff and Ride operations; oversee fund development, fiscal/grants management, and staff development.


The Ride Director is responsible to the Board of Directors.


Requirements:

The Ride Director will carry a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.  A minimum of five years experience in management with experience in fundraising preferred.  Ability to communicate concisely and effectively, both orally and in writing as demonstrated by prior experience.  Personal computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office Products (MSWord, Excel, and Access) preferred.   


Ability to effectively manage professional relationships including mediation and negotiation skills. Experience managing employees and working with Boards and volunteers. Experience in business management and development. Experience with HIV/AIDS community in greater Austin area preferred. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  1.  The Ride Director will serve as the staff liaison to the Board; an ex-officio member of all Board committees; and will implement all policies as approved by the Board.

  2.  Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, supporting, and terminating, if necessary, all agency staff.  Responsible for ensuring staff is supported and professional development opportunities are considered when appropriate. Responsible for conducting and maintaining employee records which includes Annual Review and other documentation as necessary. Conducts weekly staff meetings and other development opportunities as the need arises.

  3.  Responsible for all aspects of producing the Ride as an annual event:  recruit riders and volunteers; direct the work of a volunteer or professional Production Team; secure and oversee the production and design of all marketing tools;  coordinate PR opportunities; coordinate all private and corporate contributions/sponsorships; and, act as the spokesperson for the Ride.

  4.  Responsible for ensuring the organization is run in an efficient and professional manner:  oversee and administer all agency financial responsibilities, which includes fund development, receivables and payables, payroll, and grants management; work with the board treasurer to prepare the annual budget for Board approval; work with external accountant as necessary to maintain timely and accurate financial statements, annual audit and tax returns.

  5.  Responsible for establishing and maintaining all donor relations and for establishing and maintaining collaborative efforts with the beneficiaries.


Compensation:

  1. Monthly salary commensurate with education, skills and experience;

  2. Medical/Health insurance; Sick Leave in accordance with policy;

  3. Personal Leave as determined by length of service.
