Share the Joy of Hearing

My greatest fear is ending up old, alone, and not able to take care of myself financially. I can't imagine adding the disability of being hard of hearing to that equation, but it's a reality for many people. Back when I needed hearing aids, I was thankful l that I could afford them. But even with good insurance, sometimes hearing aids are either not covered, or only a certain dollar amount will be covered. Quality hearing aids can cost anywhere from $1500-$3000 and beyond, including consults and fitting costs. Obviously the cheaper the hearing aid, there's a risk that they are not as helpful, or that you could need to buy a better pair if your hearing continues to worsen.

The crazy reality is that my hearing deteriorated so fast that my hearing aids no longer helped after just under a year, and I ended up needing cochlear implants. So it was a huge investment which only helped for so long - yet, I had to have them. Many are stuck in this situation.

I want to help those in need of hearing aids who can't afford them. I know firsthand how lonely and isolating it is to move through the world and not be able to understand speech. It's terrifying,

Thankfully, the use of effective hearing aids can vastly improve quality of life. The National Hearing Aid Project aims to ensure that income is never a barrier to better hearing and provides cost-free hearing aids and related services to individuals in need.  Join me in supporting this amazing charity which helps realize the hopes of many!

Even if you can only donate a dollar, it will help!
