Bone marrow transplantation is a curative therapy for leukemia and other diseases. This procedure requires an appropriately matched donor to provide the essential stem cells.

However, the national and international bone marrow registries, from which patients can find a suitable donor, have a very low number of Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) participants.

This disparity urgently needs more people from the BIPOC community into the registry.
