Marklund residents Heather and Dawn have been best friends for over thirty years. The amazing thing is, they built this friendship without being able to speak a word to each other!
Both girls began living at Marklund as children, and then as young adults - they became roommates and fast friends. Best friends want to help and protect each other. It is the core of every great friendship. Just as Dawn and Heather look out for one another, safety is our number one priority at Marklund. It is not only a duty, but our vision to provide a happy, safe, purpose-filled life for all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. And a safe life starts with a safe home.
In order to maintain our excellent standards of care and safety, Marklund’s security camera system needs to be upgraded. The current system is outdated, which causes it to freeze up and images are grainy and pixelated. The new technology will offer an umbrella of protection for our residents, students, and staff especially at night with clearer visibility in and around the homes and parking lots. Additional cameras will also increase medical response times. But most importantly, the update will ensure that Marklund will continue to be the safest home possible for everyone!
