We're celebrating the 17-year history of the Hot Chocolate Run for Safe Passage and the incredible show of support by our community for survivors of domestic violence.
While we can't be together in 2020, we invite you to sign up for the Hot Chocolate Challenge. You'll enjoy a series of fun activities and challenges, and most importantly, you'll create year-round support for every program at Safe Passage.
There's no cost to sign up (though be sure to donate or raise a minimum of $30 to get your mug!) Once you do, you'll receive a link to a fundraising page. Together, let's reach our half-million dollar goal!
The Hot Chocolate Run has always been about the run and the walk.
And alongside 2020's limitations there's a big opportunity.
In the Hot Chocolate Challenge, you'll earn points for running and walking. Or by taking an online yoga class. Or going for a hike or a bike ride on a beautiful fall day. Lift weights, waterski, swim, do 50 jumping jacks...just move your body, log your time on your page, and earn two points for every minute of your activity.
Set a goal for the number of minutes you'll be active between now and noon on December 6.
We suggest at least 60 minutes per week for every week until then (if you're signing up in September, that's about 600 minutes total). You can always change your goal later (and we encourage you to increase your goal if you meet it before December 6!)
Together, let's get to a half million minutes! Watch the activity tracker on the front page of the site to see all of our minutes add up.
Remember: visit your page and log your minutes every time you exercise.
People at risk of domestic violence – the people you support through your Hot Chocolate Run fundraising efforts – face even greater dangers during this pandemic. As access to family and friends has been restricted, people at risk of violence are also having to spend more time in the presence of their abusers.
Second, public health restrictions in Massachusetts won’t allow 6,000+ of us to come together in Northampton this year to show survivors how much we care. That’s why we need you to step up and join the Hot Chocolate Challenge.
The Hot Chocolate Challenge will be a season-long series of fun activities, exercise, individual and team challenges, community connection – and hot chocolate – for our devoted Hot Chocolate Run community. We invite you to be part of a caring community raising money and sending a powerful message of love and support to survivors of domestic violence.
There’s no registration fee for the Hot Chocolate Challenge. Instead, we encourage you to jumpstart your fundraising with an initial contribution to set the pace for your friends, family, and co-workers to follow. Your initial contribution of $30 or more will reserve your official 2020 Hot Chocolate Challenge mug (of course, there’s still a mug!).
