Illuminating Human Connection supporting The Night Ministry
Illuminating Human Connection

About Illuminating Human Connection

When the world closed with the pandemic, The Night Ministry stayed open and committed to serving Chicagoans struggling with homelessness or poverty. Because we are unable to come together for our annual benefit, which provides critical funding for our lifesaving programs, we are asking our community of supporters to help us make up the gap by illuminating the human connection that is at the root of our mission and raising $260,000 this spring.

During Illuminating Human Connection, we encourage you to visit our website and pay close attention to your email inboxes and our social media. We will be sharing personal stories and insights from members of The Night Ministry community about the importance of human connection in their lives and their work. Want to get involved? Make a donation, start a fundraiser, purchase a sponsorship, or share our stories—these are great ways to help us Illuminate Human Connection. We hope you will join us in this special endeavor.

About the Cause

86,000 Chicagoans experience homelessness a year. Each year we serve more than 6,000 young people and adults who have nowhere else to go through our Health Outreach and Youth Housing Programs.

With an open heart and an open mind, we accept people as they are and work to address their immediate physical, emotional, and social needs while affirming their sense of humanity. Our services have not wavered in the face difficulty. Every day we offer a lifeline to forgotten members of our community. With your help, we can continue our mission to provide housing, health care, and human connection to our neighbors experiencing homelessness and poverty.

“During these challenging times, The Night Ministry’s mission has not and will not change. Our organization is called to provide housing, health care, and human connection to the poor and homeless. That is it. Period. We will not waver from this mission.” - Paul W. Hamman, President & CEO

Human Connection at The Night Ministry

"It can be such a long road from staying on the streets to being stably housed. Having someone supporting you through it is so important." - Allison Boyle, Youth Outreach Team Case Manager

“If we only ask the client, 'What do you need?' then we are skipping that essential part of what The Night Ministry does — relationship building." - Juan Roca, Lead Outreach Manager
