It's Time

​It's time to act for animals!

Shedd connects Chicago and the Midwest to conservation, clean waterways... and animals like Wellington the penguin! 

Like so many organizations, Shedd has been hugely impacted by closings related to the pandemic. A significant portion of the aquarium's revenue is from ticket sales, and so even as Shedd prepares to reopen to guests (!!!), it will be at significantly reduced volume during what should have been its busiest season. We've also had to cancel summer fundraisers that raise critical money for community outreach programs and animal care. 

If you're like me, Shedd has brought a smile to your face during this stressful time. Perhaps through its digital channels, where Wellington the penguin toured Chicago or visited the belugas right within Shedd, or through memories and pictures of past visits. 

Please consider giving back to Shedd for the joy it has brought - and will continue to bring - to you and your family. Perhaps the amount you'd have instead spent on a visit, or that you'd have spent to attend BLU and take home a blinky ring or a giant penguin (who does that!?). Every amount helps. Donors will be invited to special reopening events and access in person and online.
