To make a positive impact in the Chicagoland community!
The little black dress is an iconic wardrobe staple. The Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) seeks to take this well-known outfit's somber tone to illustrate the restrictions poverty places on choices, opportunities, and access to resources.
In partnership with the Junior League of Chicago (JLC), I will wear the same black outfit for five days in a row to spread awareness of the multifaceted impacts of poverty on the health and well-being of our community, and raise funds to support JLC's efforts to provide access to healthy foods, safe housing, clean clothing, education, healthcare and sanitation for Chicago's citizens.
Throughout the week of January 24th to January 28th, I will join other LBDI Champions to:
- Spark conversation about the impacts of poverty on families suffering from a lack of access to essential needs
- Illustrate how limited resources affect daily life
- Raise funds for community projects that focus on providing access to healthy foods, safe housing, clean clothing, education, healthcare, and sanitation for Chicago's citizens
I would like to ask you to help the JLC raise $25,000 by donating to this important campaign here on my personal fundraising page. If you are not in a position to donate, please join the conversation by liking and sharing my posts. You can follow my Little Black Dress Initiative journey throughout the week on my social media platforms using the hashtag #JLCLBDI.
Thank you for your support!
On this final day of #LBDI, I’m excited to represent the Junior League of Chicago as the President and spend the day virtually alongside 600+ other Junior League members from around the world at #AJLI Winter Leadership. While the Junior League’s direct service in the community is our foundation, training and empowering our members is also a crucial part of our community's impact. This week, the JLC took the challenge to wear the same black outfit every day to start conversations around the impacts of poverty and raise funds to support our efforts in providing access to healthy foods, safe housing, clean clothing, education, healthcare, and sanitation for Chicago’s citizens. Thanks to your support, I raised over $500 this week! But we are still short of our overall goal of raising $25,000 collectively. Every contribution helps!
