About 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run

Guardians by Choice - Heroes with Heart

Be a hero and and hit the streets with our Law Enforcement community as they escort the Special Olympics torch, the “Flame of Hope,” on its journey through our communities symbolizing their dedication and commitment to our Special Olympics athletes.  Every year, hundreds of Law Enforcement personnel, proudly known as the Guardians of the Flame, relay the Flame of Hope to highlight the amazing abilities of people with intellectual disabilities and support the free sports, health and leadership programs of Special Olympics Northern California.

Be a part of this community of heroes!  The runs will take place in May. Your registration fee includes a commemorative dri-fit Torch Run t-shirt that you can wear with pride on your run.  Take advantage of the early registration fee of $45 as registration increases on April 27, 2026.  Participants are encouraged to register by April 27 in order to guarantee arrival of the runner shirts for your run.

We encourage all personnel to go the extra mile and raise additional funds for our athletes. We will have additional incentives gifts you can earn so the more you raise, the more we want to thank you.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. Annually, over 110,000 dedicated and compassionate law enforcement members carry the “Flame of Hope,” symbolizing courage and celebrating diversity, uniting communities around the globe.

Why Participate?

The Law Enforcement Torch Run provides law enforcement agencies throughout Northern California the opportunity to promote a positive and civic-minded image to their communities.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run raises thousands of dollars for Special Olympics Northern California which supports the many programs and services Special Olympics provides to children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Not only is there financial support generated by fundraising efforts, but lasting friendships are formed between our athletes and law enforcement through various events and engagement opportunities year-round.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

Special Olympics provides sports training and competition opportunities as well as educational and health programming at no cost to the athletes or their families.

The skills athletes gain through their participation go far beyond the playing field.  Being a Special Olympics athlete builds confidence and self-esteem, giving athletes the life skills to be productive members of their community.
