#YouMatter Hiking Challenge supporting Boot Campaign

My name is Lindsay Hill, I am an Air Force Reservist currently pursuing a 2021 mile hiking challenge for military mental health awareness. I initially found my passion for hiking in 2016, in a time of darkness, struggling with the loss of a former boyfriend/Sailor and very recent news of a childhood friend/Army Veteran who recently took his life while I was at military training. Returning home feeling like a different person and even more misunderstood and damaged, I took to the trails where I found peace and belonging in times of severe heartache. The mountains have shown me that life is full of beauty and innocence and has given me the power to battle my demons while seeking professional help. Having such a passion for mental health awareness and the desire to normalize mental health, I have pledged a mile for every $10 dollars donated toward the You Matter campaign. Boot Campaign has helped so many veterans, and I would love to help raise more funds so they can ensure veterans get the assistance they need. I will be sharing my journey on IG under the handle @Legenday_Lindsay for accountability, while discussing topics of mental health.
Boot Campaign began when average Americans chose to outwardly express their gratitude for active duty service members, veterans and their families by lacing up one of the most visible signs of military service: combat boots. Our decade-long efforts have only been made possible by patriots from coast to coast who heard our mission, believed in it and took the next step to help us spread it amongst their friends, families and colleagues.
Help us continue our mission to unite Americans to honor and restore the lives of veterans and military families through individualized, life-improving programs. #LaceUpAMERICA
It's our duty to care for the physical health and mental well-being of every man and woman who laces up their boots to defend our freedom. Less than 50 percent of military personal and veterans struggling with invisible wounds of war like brain injury, post-traumatic stress, chronic pain, addition or insomnia receive care.
OUR HOW: Through customized and holistic care, Boot Campaign works to treat the root cause of the challenges veterans face.
On average, eighty-seven cents of every dollar supports our three vital programs to restore the lives of veterans and their families.
