About Lunch Fund

Conversations are happening nationwide to ensure that every child has access to a school lunch. One U.S. Representative was quoted saying, "In one of the wealthiest countries in the world, no child should be turned away from a meal if they cannot afford it."

While 10% of our OLSH families meet qualifications for a free or reduced-price lunch, we do not have access to the government funds for this program. All of our families are asked to pay the same price for a lunch; even our families living at the poverty level.

Will YOU consider helping to provide lunch for a student at OLSH? For a day, for a week, for a month or for the whole school year?

How your Support Makes a Difference

Cost for an OLSH Lunch

$4.50 is the cost to provide a basic meal including: One full entree with a side dish and either a water, pint-sized milk, or an iced tea.  $22.50 is the cost of a basic lunch for a week. $40.00 is the average amount per week spent by a hungry,  growing teenager. Some teens need much more than the basic meal for lunch, while for others, it is their main (or only) meal of the day.

OLSH Students Partnering on the Lunch Campaign

Dear OLSH Supporter,

OLSH’s founder, Blessed Mary Angela, stated “It is important that we are there for one another, bearing one another's burdens.” Student Government, as advocates for OLSH’s student body, believes in the importance of every student having access to a healthy, balanced meal for lunch. When we, Student Government, became aware that 10% of OLSH families struggle with food insecurity, we knew we had to take action. This campaign will help alleviate the burden of food insecurity for many students and ensure that every student gets to enjoy a meal at lunchtime. We hold this campaign very dear to our hearts and we hope to help make a difference in the OLSH community.
