Meet our Slalom Superstar, Ben!

On August 8, 2024, Ben received news that would forever change his life—something no teenager or anyone ever expects to hear. Coming off a summer of traveling through Europe and spending time with friends, it was unimaginable to learn he had cancer. What started as a small mass, initially believed to be an enlarged lymph node, was revealed through a biopsy and scans to be cancer that had spread throughout his body and into his bones.

As a lifelong athlete, Ben was faced with a future full of questions. Would he be able to walk, run, swim, or even play basketball again?

However, from the moment Ben and his family met with Dr. Kastle and the MCCP team, they felt supported and equipped to face the challenges ahead. Ben describes MCCP as a place where he not only found the best medical care but also a second family—one filled with kindness, joy, and unwavering support. The team’s ability to adapt treatment to each individual, both medically and emotionally, gave Ben the strength to keep pushing forward.

“During my time at MCCP, I feel like I’ve become part of a bigger community—one I’m so lucky to have been introduced to,” Ben shares. “Though the circumstances that brought me there were less than ideal, I can’t imagine my life or my story without them.”

Today, Ben is back to doing the things he loves, including hitting the slopes at Pleasant Mountain. He’s living proof of the resilience and courage that define MCCP kids—and we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate his story at this year’s Moonlight Challenge.

Thank you for your support!
