September is NICU Awareness Month. Help Madelyn's Fund spread awareness for NICU families and raise funds to support those with a child in the NICU.
Madelyn's Fund supports NICU patients and their families, including those who suffer the trauma of infant loss. Babies in the NICU may have been born too small, too soon, or with a medical condition that requires intensive care. An average of 15% of all babies born in the United States require special care in a NICU.
A NICU stay is often an unforeseen circumstance that can put families in financial turmoil. Families are forced to take time off work, pay medical bills, and balance their jobs with spending time at the hospital and caring for other children. They also incur travel costs and other unexpected expenses. In the most tragic cases, they bear the expense of their child’s funeral.
Madelyn’s Fund aims to relieve some of these burdens, allowing families to focus on their infants. The fund supports NICU families with everyday living expenses and funeral costs, mitigating the devastating financial effects a NICU stay can have. Everyday living expenses include transportation (gas cards, Uber/Lyft), lodging to be near their child, household expenses such as utilities, meal cards, and baby supplies. In the event of infant loss, Madelyn's Fund helps families with funeral costs.
This experience brings many social-emotional, psychological, and financial challenges for families facing lengthy hospitalizations. Madelyn’s Fund is dedicated to supporting these families through their difficult journeys with care and compassion.
