Now, more than ever, I want to help families facing food uncertainty. There's no excuse that we have kids living with hunger in this country.
WOW! I am hosting my 30th Friendsgiving (formerly Thanksmas) for No Kid Hungry this year. I am so proud to be associated with this organization. I do this because we have an epidemic of poverty in this country and 1 in 7 kids in America faces hunger. This year has been especially hard.Because of quarantining, families may have lost their primary source of income, many children were unable to take advantage of school lunches and breakfasts and the overtaxed community programs struggled to keep up with the demands that the pandemic created. Since the crisis began they have provided:$27 Million in emergency grants to school and local nonprofits.Successfully advocated for policy changes to help communities feed kids in all 50 states.Helped find free meals in their neighborhood for 200,000 families. No Kid Hungry has done an awesome job addressing this, but there is still much to do. However, there is hope. Every $10 we raise will help connect a child with up to 100 meals! If you have been fortunate enough to make it through this crisis without worrying about feeding your own children, or if you know a family that is struggling, then please consider making a donation in their honor. If you know a family in need of free, healthy meals being served by organizations in your community please click on this link for information. https://www.nokidhungry.org/find-free-meals.
