Your gift to NOCA will help prepare our students for a lifetime of learning and citizenship, build academic and extracurricular programs that equip our students to be dignified human beings, and maintain and create the facilities where future generations of NOCA students will learn, live, laugh and wonder.




Past, Present, Future...

August 2015:  Future NOCA Board Members, Mrs. Janet Ragan and Mr. Robert Pruger, have initial meeting with former Barney Charter School Initiative’s Director, Phil Kilgore, to discuss planting a classical charter school in the Toledo Area.

November 2018:  NOCA established the school charter with Charter School Specialists in Pickerington, Ohio.

June 2019:  NOCA Board of Trustees gains approval to be affiliated with Hillsdale College through the Barney Charter School Initiative.

August 2019:  NOCA opened its doors to 198 students grade K-8 with 22 teachers and staff members as the first BSCI school in the state of Ohio.  

August 2020:  NOCA started its second year with 318 students, 32 teachers and staff members, and added 9th Grade.

March 2021:  NOCA Foundation formed and purchased the current building, securing the Spartan legacy for years to come.

August 2021:  NOCA began its third year with 423 students, increased to 39 teachers and staff members, and also added a third Kindergarten class and 10th Grade.

August 2022:  NOCA will expand its Upper School to include 11th Grade.

August 2023:  NOCA will complete its Upper school with the addition of 12th Grade.   



The mission of Northwest Ohio Classical Academy is to train the minds and improve the hearts of young people through a rigorous, content-rich classical curriculum in the liberal arts and sciences, one that produces thoughtful leaders and virtuous citizens.

In just our third year as a classical charter school, we are providing a rigorous education to 423 students throughout the greater Toledo area in grades Kindergarten through 10th.  NOCA is a Member School of Hillsdale College’s Barney Charter School Initiative.  BCSI is a national project, with nearly 50 affiliated schools in 22 states, devoted to the education of young Americans.  At NOCA our students and faculty pursue excellence and inspire wonder in all that they do.
