OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Opportunity Knocks, we envision an inclusive community where all individuals experience access, presence and support. We believe that softball is not just a sport, but an opportunity for community. We welcome everyone to that community. A community that promotes inclusivity and respect for all players, regardless of background, identity, orientation or ability. It is with those ideals in mind that we start this year's Player's Guide with a message to teams and players regarding this year's rules update and a reminder of how our collective objective involving inclusion aims to create a special experience.
WARRIORS COUNT
We continue to encourage and support the philosophy that the Warriors who play in this tournament should be counted as any other player in the event. A strike is a strike, a hit is a hit and an out is an out. It is our belief that we are creating these experiences and this community with Warriors, not for Warriors. They are capable of accepting the let down of a strike out, ground out or an error. We invite you to let them be in the mix, encourage and support them the same you would any player in the dugout.
WARRIORS AT WORK
Warriors join up or are paired up with all of the teams playing in the event. These Warriors are working with their teammates toward our fundraising goals. We consider this event a great opportunity to show how we believe inclusion can and should look, in sports and in life. Here's one way we prove that. Look below.
