About Over the Edge for Child Advocacy 2026

It takes courage to stand up against abuse. As adults, it can take years to admit and share our experiences with someone we trust. For a child, it’s even more complicated. The person they are supposed to trust may be the very one harming them.

For children who have experienced abuse, telling their story is not just difficult- it is stepping into a world of fear, uncertainty, and vulnerability. Child sexual abuse is a profoundly violating experience, and tragically, it is not as rare as many would like to believe. On average, two children in every elementary school classroom have experienced sexual abuse.

If your child, your niece, or your child’s best friend were a victim, would you stand beside them as they shared their story?

The physiological impact of child abuse can dysregulate a child’s nervous system for years- sometimes for a lifetime. The trauma doesn’t simply fade. It shapes how they feel safety, trust, and connection.

This September 25th & 26th, stand up for children who have endured abuse by “Going Over the Edge” in support of child abuse awareness. Step outside your comfort zone. Experience a brief moment of heightened vulnerability. Feel, in a small way, the edge of what children live with every day.

Bring your community together. Show children that when they speak, we listen. When they tell their story, we stand with them.

Because no child should ever feel alone.

'Going Over the Edge' for Child Advocacy

Many community systems are structured around the assumption that adults responsible for children are both willing and able to protect them. However, this assumption can inadvertently increase children’s vulnerability, as research consistently shows that children are most often harmed by individuals within their circle of trust.

This September 25th & 26th, join our community in “Going Over the Edge” to stand in solidarity with children who have experienced abuse. As participants descend over the edge, they symbolically step into a moment of vulnerability- a reminder of the immense courage it takes for a child to share their story. For many children, speaking up means facing fear, uncertainty, and the risk of not being believed. This powerful event invites you to feel a fraction of that vulnerability while raising critical funds and awareness to protect and support survivors. Together, we send a clear message to every child: you are heard, you are believed, and you are never alone.

Thank you for your support!
