About Over The Edge 4 Granted 2023

Over The Edge is a unique and thrilling way for you and your company, friends, or family to support GRANTED. If you crave adventure and want to help support local children with terminal or life-threatening conditions, then Over The Edge is for you!

Please join GRANTED on April 29, 2023 when participants will be given the opportunity to rappel down CenterPoint Energy's nine-story building in downtown Evansville overlooking the mighty Ohio River.

Every day, children with life-threatening conditions face difficult obstacles. Imagine the fear and anxiety these children face each and every day, and you can step up and stand beside them in a show of solidarity.

Participants commit to donating a minimum of $1,000 by April 22, 2023 to join us on this adventure.  Invite your friends, family and coworkers to help you raise the funds to go OVER THE EDGE!  Money raised will go towards making magical Wishes come true and help us ensure NO CHILD ever sits on a waiting list.

Funding will also allow GRANTED to maintain the high level of child and family support through the Beyond The Wish programming that offers ten separate areas of focus including support groups, inclusive events throughout the year, and resources in the family's times of crisis.

How Your Support Makes a Difference for Granted Wish Children Like Brave Cecilia

In the Spring of 2018, Cecilia was a delightful 8-year-old little girl who had recently been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma cancer.   She was approved for her Wish to Disney while she was going through the first phase of her treatment, chemotherapy.  The plan was that once she completed her chemo, had surgery to remove the ribs where the tumor was located, and completed radiation, her hair would grow back so she could be a princess at Disney World.   When Cecilia had surgery, it was found that the tumor was more aggressive than first thought, so a portion of her lung had to be removed as well.

Unfortunately, that meant she had to undergo another round of chemotherapy.  Because she had to start right back with the harsh treatment, her little body was not responding well.  Her blood counts were consistently too low for her to get the treatments needed to save her life.  It was decided to go ahead and send her on her Wish trip because the outcome was unknown for her.

Cecilia and her family spent a week at Disney, Epcot, Universal, and Give Kids the World.  We received regular updates with photos full of smiles and joy.  On the last day of her Wish, she had bloodwork drawn at an Orlando hospital.  Miraculously, her blood levels were higher than they had been since she initially began treatments.

Her Wish allowed her to relax, have fun with her family, and just be a child.  This gave her body a chance to heal and become stronger.  Two days after she returned home from her Wish trip, she was able to re-start her life saving treatments.  Four months later, she was in complete remission!

Cecilia went OVER THE EDGE for GRANTED and rappelled from the top of CenterPoint Energy's nine-story building because she loves challenges, she wanted to support other wish children, and she thought it would be fun.
