What is a virtual 5K?

A virtual 5K is exactly like participating during an in-person-event, where you are expected to meet a target (in this case 3.1 miles that are the equivalent to a 5K) to win a medal and raise awareness for a cause.

Virtual races are very similar to in-person races - you enter a race and when you finish you get a medal etc - but differ from in-person events in two key ways:

You can choose to complete the virtual race whenever you like (within the designated dates), and it can be done at the participant's convenience.
You can complete the race wherever you like. You can even do the whole thing indoors on a treadmill!

How does it work?

The virtual 5K can be completed between May 1st and May 5th (the day of the in-person event).

Choose your own route (Park, Treadmill, Neighborhood, literally anywhere!)
Go the distance! - Wether you do it at one time or split it, we encourage you to complete the 5K (3.1mi).
You can WALK, RUN, or ROLL
We will send you a BIB that you can wear the day of your 5K.
You can walk with your dog, friends, family, alone, whatever works for you and keeps you motivated. You can even create a team of virtual participants and encourage them to join the cause and fundraise for our cause.
We encourage you (but not mandatory) to post a picture of yourself with your dog or other participants during or after the walk. Share it on our Facebook or Instagram pages with the hashtag #pawsinmotion as well as on your participant page (on this website).
Once you've completed the 5K, record your participation here under the activity: Virtual 5K - Walk, Run, Roll - Log.
You'll be mailed a participation medal!
But most importantly...HAVE FUN! This is your race, so make it fun!
