The Project

With a new and improved Aquatic Center in Elgin, our therapy team will be able to implement a consistent, and safe aquatic therapy program. The new pool will be equipped with more space, ramps, grab bars, and showers to better serve each of our residents.

We are so grateful for any and all of your generosity and support to help us complete this project to make everyday life possible for individuals with profound disabilities living at Marklund!

Aquatic therapy has had proven positive impacts on the physical and emotional well-being of the people we serve. For some, it is the only time they can walk without assistance! The benefits of aquatic therapy include improvements in strength, mobility, balance, and range of motion – just to name a few…

The Marklund Wasmond Center pool has been closed since 2019 due to extensive renovations needed not only to repair issues but to align it with the many building code changes that developed over the past 20 years.  We have received a generous grant to help with the majority of the cost, but need your help with the last $50,000 to finish the project.
