The Making of Ring the Bell Song and Video - Idea & Concept
The song "Ring The Bell" was written by Catherine Gell and performed with friends (Sandra, Alah, and Jessiah) to honor, dedicate and give a tribute song to local Calgarian Rochelle Gartner who is fighting Glioblastoma. Rochelle is the artistic director of Dance With France Studio (16 years!) and founder/director of Artists Elite Int’l in Calgary, Alberta. She has been a very active member of the dance community in Canada throughout her life.
In 2019 Rochelle was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive, incurable form of brain cancer. Since her initial diagnosis, she has undergone brain surgery and many rounds of combined radiation and chemotherapy treatments. At this time Rochelle has completed 15 rounds of chemotherapy and has MRI’s every 2 months.
Through it all her spirit and resolve have remained strong as she continues to fight her cancer daily, with a grace and dignity that is truly inspiring. She is setting such a wonderful example to the whole community how to fight and never give up.
Rochelle’s commitment to raising funds and awareness of brain cancer, specifically Glioblastoma, has been a testament to how truly special she is as a person. Having been the Artistic Director of Dance With France Studio for 16 years and the Founder/Director of Artists Elite Int’l in Calgary, she has brought together with her love of dance and deep connections in that community with giving back. A variety of successful fundraisers have already been held and now Rochelle’s Army is focusing its efforts on directly supporting the research work of Dr. John Kelly through the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
The inspirational song "Ring The Bell" was performed at a few charity events the past year. The response has been wonderful and this has given us the idea to record and sell the song with the proceeds going towards Glioblastoma Research. Many people have been touched by this song and it has become a theme/anthem for many patients that are fighting cancer to give them hope and strength especially when they get to the end of treatment and are able to "Ring The Bell".
