About Kathy Adams Run-A-Thon

Welcome to the 2019 Ascension Kathy Adams Run-A-Thon!

Kathy Adams was a beloved parent, School Board member and teacher at Ascension who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Adams’ legacy lives on in the Run-A-Thon and the Kathy Adams Scholarship Fund.

The Run-A-Thon is the number one way our students can make an impact on their school, raising over $30,000 annually.  Support from family, friends, and neighbors helps us to continue our long tradition of providing children with the foundation they need for a lifetime of success!  The Run-A-Thon allows Ascension to stay up-to-date with technology, provide continuing education for faculty and helps to keep tuition affordable for all families who desire an Ascension education for their children.

Who Participates

All Ascension School students in grades PK4 through 8 are encouraged to participate in the Run-a-thon and are asked to raise a minimum of $25 each.  Children in first grade and up will run in our gym for 15 minutes, while our preschoolers (who are running for their first time) run for 5 minutes and kindergarteners run for 10 minutes.

Eighth graders have the leadership role of counting laps and cheering on the rest of the student body, along with parents, friends and alumni, who cherish this annual tradition.

Participants compete to win a variety of prizes, both for running and for their individual and class fundraising efforts.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

Ascension School provides an excellent, faith-based education to 430 students from seventeen different communities in the Chicagoland area.  With small class sizes and a variety of extracurricular activities to help students explore their many talents, we strive to give our children the very best.  To achieve that goal, we rely upon philanthropic support from our community of parents, alumni and friends to meet their individual needs.  The Run-a-thon makes an incredible impact, and shows our students the power of generosity.
