What is a virtual event?
This virtual event is a running/walking/biking event that you do on your own time in the location of your choice. Once you register, you'll need to complete the distance in any interval or pace within the window of August 23rd - September 6th. You can use your smartphone to track your distance and time, but at the end of the day we use the honor system.
How will I submit my race time?
Click here for a list of FREE apps that will track your distance/time. Upon completion of your race (and no later than 11:59pm on Sept. 6th), UPLOAD your time here. Times will not be accepted via email. We will post your name, age, and time on this site by Sept. 8th.
Do I have to register ahead of time?
Yes, the sooner the better! Register to have access to your team page and fundraising tools to build your team. Encourage your family, friends, and co-workers to join your team. They can be a part of your team but complete their run/walk/bike event on their own. Make sure you register by July 31st to receive your shirt and other goodies!
Is there a registration fee?
Yes, there is a registration fee of $35 per participant (or $25 during Early Bird Registration). Each registration includes a t-shirt and other goodies! Children ages 12-and-under will get a t-shirt, pencil pouch, and SuperHEARo cape! Shipping is also included in the fee.
What are the race length options?
You may choose your distance: Kids Run (child goodies included in race packet), 5K, 10K, or 18 mile bike ride.
When will I get my participant packet?
Since there is no option for packet pick-up this year, all participant packets will be mailed to the address provided. The registration deadline of July 31st will ensure that everyone will receive their packet prior to the start of the event on August 23rd.
Can I help raise money for Hear Indiana through this event?
Absolutely! Participants are encouraged to raise funds for children with hearing loss by asking friends and family members to donate to the cause or join your team. It doesn't matter where they live, they can join in the fun - remember, this is a virtual event.
Is there a fundraising minimum?
There is not a fundraising minimum, but we certainly do appreciate your help to spread the word, encourage participation of others, and help us reach our goal. Donations can be made directly on the event site or designated toward your team's fundraising total. Set a team goal, and see if you can surpass it!
How do I handle checks?
If someone makes a donation by check, you can enter the donation by logging onto your participant/team page. On the left menu, select "Help your team raise." Then from the new tabs on the top, toggle to "cash/checks" and follow the instruction on the screen. Please immediately mail your checks to the Hear Indiana office (address below).

Can I win prizes for participating?

When will the winners of the prizes be determined?
All donations must be received by 11:59pm on September 6, 2021 in order to be counted toward awards. Prize winners will be announced on September 7, 2021.
Can I still raise funds after the event window is closed?
Yes! Your fundraising page will stay open until 10/4/2021. Checks can be sent to the Hear Indiana office.
How do I share my event experience?
We would love to see your virtual event! Please share your photos and videos on social media. Tell everyone why you run/walk/cycle for sound! Always use the hashtag #RunforSound when posting. You can also email us pictures at email@example.com, so we can share them!
