RUN UNITED 2023: Virtual Marathon

For eight years, United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s Run United team of 500+ runners has participated in the Detroit Free Press Marathon and other local running events. Together, we’ve raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support United Way’s work to build communities of stable households and thriving children. This year, funds raised through Run United will support United Way/Scholastic Book Fairs offered throughout Southeastern Michigan.

The Event

Let’s run a marathon together—virtually—to support children and families in our community.

Starting with our Run United Kick-Off on September 14, runners and walkers will commit to logging at least 26.2 miles by or on October 15- the date of the Detroit Free Press Marathon. There will be different events and challenges throughout the 30 days of the event, and prizes awarded to leaders in different categories.

Funds raised through the Run United Virtual Marathon will support Scholastic Book Fairs offered in partnership with United Way for Southeastern Michigan.

When:  Complete your 26.2 miles between Sept. 14 and the Detroit Free Press Marathon on Oct. 15.

Who:  Open to all ages and abilities. You are welcome to complete your miles however you like! We encourage you to get your community involved- participate with friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers.
