Helpful FAQs about our Race

1. Will there be awards given for the 5K?

Awards will be given to the top 2 overall finishers in the 5K and 5K wheelchair divisions, as well as the top 2 male and female finishers in each of the following divisions: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-60, and 70+.


2.  Will there be awards given to the Top Fundraisers?

Fundraising awards will go to ALL participants who raise money to support Marklund in these categories:
$10,000 +
$5,000 - $9,999
$2, 500 - $4,999
$1,000 - $2,499
$500 - $999
$250 - $499


.


3.  Is the 5K course USATF certified?

Yes, the 5K course was certified in October 2017, certification code:  IL-17032WR.




4.  Can we pick up our Race Packets before October 20th?

Yes, packet pick up instructions are as follows:

Friday, October 18th from 3:00 pm-6:00 pm

Saturday, October 19th from 10:00 am-1:00 pm
*Registration Forms and Registration will be present during packet pickup




5.  When does On-line Registration close?  

Online Registration closes Wednesday October 16th at 11:59 PM. You can then register at Dick Pond St.Charles on October 18th (3-6 p.m.) and October 19th (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) or Race Day from 6:45-7:45 am.



6. Does the Registration price increase? 

Yes, Early Bird pricing will end August 1st, and increase by $5. Then on October 1st, the price will increase another $5. 


Hoodies guaranteed until October 7th.



7. Can I bring my dog on a leash? 

Sorry, but NO. Only certified service dogs will be allowed to participate in this event, with special permission ahead of time.  Due to the various and unique special needs of our clients who may be participating, we will not allow pets on the course or at the Party in the Park. Pets are permitted as spectators along the route at a safe distance from participants.



8. Can I bring my child in a stroller or wagon?

Yes, strollers and wagons will be allowed, but will be seeded in the back. Children in strollers and wagons can participate for free.  If you want them to have their own bib and t-shirt, they will need to be registered separately. Although, bicycles and in-line skates are prohibited.



9. Will the event still happen in inclement weather?

Yes, this fundraiser for Marklund will happen rain, snow or shine! We will track the weather closely with authorities, and cancel or delay the event in the instance of lightening or other conditions deemed dangerous.   In the rare circumstance that this event is cancelled, we will notify all registrants with further instructions on picking up their shirts and packets if they have not already done so.



10. Can I volunteer for this event? 

Yes, we welcome all volunteers 14 years old and up!  Please register under "Volunteer" or email our Race Director at nsarby@marklund.org. You can also print a student volunteer form to receive class or group credit. (if applicable)



11. Will there be activities for kids after the race? 

   We have lots of delicious food, live music, and mini horses at the race!



12. Where is parking?

Marklund Hyde Center - 1S450 Wyatt Dr, Geneva IL

Chapelstreet Church- 1S455 S Mill Creek Dr, Geneva IL (LAWN PARKING ONLY!)


* In an instance of heavy rain or snow fall, Chapel Street Church will not be available for parking on race day. Once the Marklund lot is full, we will then ask participants to park in the overflow lots, where they will then get shuttled to the race start.

13. Will there be restrooms?

Portapotties will be available at the Start/Finish for your convenience. Handicapped restroom available as well.



14. Where can I get my official race time?

You can check our website www.marklund.org/5Kgeneva after the race to view results!
