Frequently asked questions YOU need to know!


Is there chipped timing and is the 5K course USATF certified?
Yes and yes! USATF certification code:  IL-23006WR


If signed up for the VIRTUAL race, how do I participate “Virtually”?

1) Choose your course- treadmill, neighborhood, local path, etc.

2) Set your distance and timer (5K=3.1 Miles). If you are outside, try downloading a free and user-friendly running app, such as RunKeeper or MapMyRun

3) Count down...and Run, Walk or Roll to show your support for Marklund

4) Cross your personal 5K or 1 Mile finish line and stop those timers

5) 5K participants ONLY: Enter in your time by clicking the J3 Timing link located on Marklund's webpage at www.marklund.org/5k. Please note the timing link will open on Friday, October 18th and close on Sunday, October 20th at 11:59 p.m.

1 Mile and 5K Participants: Post a picture with your finisher medal and tag @MarklundCharity and use #RunWalkandRoll 


Can I switch my registration from "VIRTUAL" to "IN-PERSON" or vice versa?

Yes, please do so by contacting Race Director, Lauren Spitler at lspitler@marklund.org or 630-593-5473 before Wednesday, October 16th



Can we pick up our Race Packets before October 20th?

Yes! We encourage this to help avoid a large crowd and wait-time for you on the morning of the race!

Where? 
Marklund Day School aka Foglia Education Center: 1S376 Wyatt Dr., Geneva, IL

When? 

Friday, October 18th from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm
Saturday, October 19th from 10:00 am-1:00 pm

*If picking up your packet before race morning is unavoidable for you and your schedule, please note that they will be available from 7:30 a.m.- 8:15 a.m. that day, with the race beginning at 8:30 a.m.* 


Is there a packet shipment option?

Yes, an individual packet shipment option is available for an additional $25 at checkout. This fee is based on material, labor and shipping costs.

Please make sure you enter in your correct address during the registration process -- Marklund will NOT be responsible for any misdirected packets. Domestic Shipping ONLY. 


Is there a packet shipment deadline
?

Registrants that wish to have their packets shipped must choose to do so before October 1.  
On October 1st, the shipment option will be closed and new participants will be expected to retrieve their packets on race day or during our packet pick-up dates above. If you choose this option, expect your delivery before October 18th!



Where do I park?

Marklund Hyde Center & Foglia Education Center - 1S450 Wyatt Dr, Geneva, IL 60134

Chapelstreet Church* - 1S455 S Mill Creek Dr, Geneva IL (LAWN PARKING ONLY!)

Overflow/Shuttle Parking:

West Main Community and Bark Park - 40W101 Main St, Geneva IL

Mill Creek Pool - 39W125 S Mill Creek Dr, Geneva IL

* In an instance of heavy rain or snow fall, Chapelstreet Church's lawn will not be available for parking on race day. Once the Marklund lot is full, we will then ask participants to park in the overflow lots, where they will then be shuttled to the race start. 



Does the registration price increase? 

Yes, Early Bird pricing will end September 30th and increase by $5.

Is there a deadline for event gear?
The sweatshirt order deadline is September 14.  


When does online registration close?  

Online Registration closes Wednesday, October 16th at 11:59 PM

*After the 16th, you can register at our packet pick-up dates listed above or in-person on event day. 



May I bring my dog to the event?

NO. Only certified service dogs will be allowed to participate in this event, with permission ahead of time.  Due to the various and unique special needs of our clients who may be participating, we will not allow pets on the course or at the Party in the Park. Leashed pets are permitted as spectators along the route at a safe distance from participants.

If you intend to bring your service animal please notify Lauren Spitler at lspitler@marklund.org / 630-593-5473 .


May I bring my child in a stroller or wagon?

Yes, strollers and wagons will be allowed, but will be seeded in the back. Children in strollers and wagons can participate for free.  If you want them to have their own bib, medal, and sweatshirt, they will need to be registered separately.  It should be noted that bicycles and in-line skates are prohibited.


Will the event still happen in inclement weather?

Yes, this fundraiser for Marklund will happen rain or shine! We will track the weather closely and cancel or delay the event in the instance of lightning or other conditions deemed dangerous. In the rare circumstance that this event is cancelled, we will notify all registrants with further instructions on picking up their packets if they have not already done so.


Can I volunteer for this event?                                                                                                                                          
Yes, we welcome all volunteers 14 years old and up! Please register under the "Get Involved" tab or email our Race Director at lspitler@marklund.org.


Where can I get my official race time?

You can check our website www.marklund.org/5K after the race to view results!


Will there be awards given for the 5K?

Award medals will be given to the overall male and overall female in the IN-PERSON 5K division, as well as the top 2 male and female finishers in each of the following divisions: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-60, and 70+.


Will there be awards given to the Top Fundraisers?

Individuals that fundraise $250+ will be entered into a GRAND PRIZE drawing. Raise $1,000+ to get your name entered into the drawing twice!

By raising $250+, you will also get a guaranteed prize mailed to you after the event. It's a win-win! These prizes are all goodies & gift cards from local businesses.
