When dedicated people get behind a cause, great things can happen. That's why we need you.
Sign up as an individual or create a team of your own! Then share your support for the cause with your friends on social media and email. It's easy and funds will go directly to support the San Antonio Public Library Foundation and our Library system. How do I participate?
- REGISTER NOW to become a Rappeler under Get Involved at the top of the page
- Easily set up your personal fundraising page
- Reach the $1500 fundraising minimum!
- Experience the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rappel
Rappel Incentives
- $1,000 – receives an event t-shirt
- $1,500 – guaranteed a rappel spot & receive an event t-shirt
- $2,500 - guaranteed a rappel spot, receive an event t-shirt & add a Go-Pro on your helmet at the event
- $3,500 – guaranteed a rappel spot, receive an event t-shirt, add a Go-Pro on your helmet at the event & receive and event tumbler
- $5,000 – guaranteed a rappel spot, receive an event t-shirt, ad a Go-Pro on your helmet at the event, receive an event tumbler, stay event night at the Thompson San Antonio, & attend the event drop party
- $10,000 – guaranteed a rappel spot, receive an event t-shirt, add a Go-Pro on your helmet at the event, receive an event tumbler, stay event night at the Thompson San Antonio, attend the event drop party, & get a 2025 Catrina Ball table
Participate Without Rappelling
Donate to a Team or an Individual rappeler - hover over Donate , click on Find a Participant or Team, enter the Team or Individual's name and click on the name when it appears. This will take you to the team or Individual's page and from there you can donate directly to the Team or Individual's campaign.
Sponsor the Event - we have several event sponsorship opportunities! Go to Get Involved and click on Be an Event Sponsor, look over the opportunities then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Purchase a Sponsorship. Enter your information on the next page and make your sponsorship selection, click next and follow the prompts to make your purchase. All company logos are due by September 3rd, 2024 to Denise.Liedtka@saplf.org.
Make a General Donation - hover over Donate, click on Make a General Donation, select your donation amount or enter your own amount, you can add a Team or Individual to support, enter your information and scroll to the bottom of the page to Donate and complete your transaction.
Register to Just Fundraise - not ready to rappel but you want to help us fundraise? Go to Get Involved and click on Register to Rappel, register as an individual, enter your information, select Just Fundraise, enter some more information and click next. Follow the prompts to complete your transaction. This option will create your own fundraising page that you can share to help you fundraise without having to rappel.

Over The Edge is an exclusive and extraordinary event that provides participants with a thrilling high-adventure urban rappelling experience! Write your own adventure story by rappelling down the beautiful Thompson San Antonio Riverwalk Hotel. Funds that are raised support the Library Foundation and our literacy programs, Born to Read and the Literacy Caravan, and San Antonio’s Libraries. YOU become the hero of the tale when you help transform lives one story at a time!
How Your Support Makes a Difference
From free books for babies and children to safe, engaging spaces for teens and lifelong learning opportunities for adults, our Library Foundation serves everyone in the community. Your support ensures that everyone in our community has the resources to learn, grow and succeed!
The Library Foundation also supports our community through our two literacy programs, Born to Read and the Literacy Caravan. Born to Read provides a free bilingual board book to every child born in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Our Literacy Caravan is a retrofitted RV that visits schools in underserved communities throughout San Antonio, bringing fun, interactive literacy games and activities to elementary age children. Each child who visits the Literacy Caravan leaves with a snack, a book of their very own, and the key to opening a world of knowledge and exploration.
