The Scott Lively Memorial Event

THE SCOTT LIVELY MEMORIAL EVENT

SON, BROTHER, FRIEND. Full of fun, laughter, mischief, compassion and loyalty.

All of these words describe Scott, but the word that describes him the best is STRONG.

I’ve always said Scott is the strongest person I know. His junior year of high school, he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma- a rare form of cancer, found in 1 in a million people. Throughout all of the intensive chemotherapy, radiation, hospitalizations, he never considered the fact that he would not beat the cancer and return to his normal life.

At the age of 28, he was diagnosed with bone cancer, a result of the radiation treatments he was given 11 years earlier. Once again, he faced intense chemo, two surgeries and numerous procedures without a single “Why me?” He continued to work straight through all these things. He was always confident that he would beat cancer this time too. Ultimately, Scott lost his battle in May 2014. We continue to fight the battle with hope of finding better treatments and a cure for Sarcoma in loving memory of our SON, BROTHER and FRIEND.

Scott carried a verse with him every day after his first diagnosis: Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and bold. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

He will forever be missed by so many. But will certainly NEVER be forgotten. Thank you for fighting this fight with us.
