Why Donate?

For more than 20 years, this golf tournament along with donations from alumnae, family and friends has built a fund to support the tuition needs of girls when they are in greatest need. The following is an excerpt from a letter received from a very appreciative father, who was assisted through our Emergency Tuition Assistance fund:

“...When my wife and I decided that Sacred Heart Academy was the high school for my daughter, we had no idea of the sisterhood we would experience.

Tragedy is always unforeseen. My wife passed away suddenly. We lost the greatest supporter of us all. My son, daughter and I had to accept what God allowed and I immediately became a single father with two teenagers.

The support from the Sacred Heart community during this period was overwhelming. Ms. Demert, the Guidance Counselors, teachers and students rallied around my daughter in so many ways. The SHA young ladies are definitely already leaders that demonstrate that they are caring, sensitive members of society.

I appreciate everything Sacred Heart has done for my family during this season. I will make sure that any investment will be returned by my daughter doing her best in school and giving back to the community. My family is committed to being lifetime donors to such a great institution of education and caring.”

Thank you for your support!

Our tournament bears the name of one of its founders, Sister Maria Pares
'58. With the assistance of Mary Ruth Leberer Haberman '57 and Patty
Haberman '80, Sister Maria had the vision to gather alumnae, parents,
students and other friends of Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, in
fun and fellowship to support the need for temporary economic assistance
for families enduring unexpected financial crisis. All proceeds from
our tournament are used to assist SHA families in paying tuition when
help is needed most.
