About Step Up For Valley 2023
The Valley Hospital Foundation's Step Up For Valley is a virtual week-long fitness challenge to get our community to move, have fun, and raise money for the construction of The Valley Hospital in Paramus.
Upon registration, participants will have the opportunity to create their own fundraising pages for the event and will earn points for fundraising, recruiting other participants, and, of course, getting those "steps" in through walking, running, or biking. The point leader board will be updated throughout the weeks leading up to and throughout the event and a variety of prizes will be awarded!
Participants will record their activity between Friday, September 8th and Friday, September 15th. (Participants can also use Strava via a free account [no subscription is necessary] to automatically record and update their activity). For the top 10 prizes, only walking, running, and/or biking activities calculated through Strava (not self-reported) are eligible to win.
PRIZES!
We know you are joining us because you care about our community and believe in the construction of The Valley Hospital in Paramus, but prizes are really awesome too!
All registrants will be entered to win a "door prize" chosen from the following: 4 pack of Bombas socks, Bombas slippers, Tangram Smart Jump Rope, Lululemon Belt Bag, assorted gift cards. There will be 25 door prizes drawn at random throughout the week of the event. (Note that from time to time, gift cards to purchase these prizes may be offered in lieu of the prize.)
Overall Winners (highest number of points on the overall Leader Board)
First Place:
Choice of a one-year gift subscription to Future Personal Training App, a ProForm Fitness Mirror plus a one-year ProForm subscription, or a one-year Individual Membership to Valley Lifestyles along with one personal training session, one resting metabolic rate test, one functional movement screening, and one individual pickle ball lesson.
Second and third place: Choice of an Apple Watch Ultra, an Oculus/Meta Quest 2 Active Bundle, or a Yeti Tundra Haul Hard Cooler with Wheels.
Fourth through tenth place: Choices of a Sensate 2 Calming Device, Engo Smart Glasses, Bose Quiet Comfort Ear Buds, a $200 Lululemon gift card, a Theragun Mini Percussive Therapy Device, or a Nix Hydration BioSensor.
The Valley Health System Department Team with the most points will earn pizza lunch for their participants (or equivalent).
Sponsorship Group Prizes
For individuals participating as part of a Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze level sponsorship group, prizes will be awarded based on your group. See "Earn Prizes" under "Get Involved" for more information.
Rules & Considerations:
- Only walking, biking, and/or running activities calculated through Strava (not self-reported) are eligible for the top 10 prizes.
- Participants are only eligible to earn one Sponsorship Prize or an Overall Winner Prize. If a participant qualifies to earn both a Sponsorship Prize and an Overall Winner Prize, the winning participant may select their prize from the applicable options. There will not be any “runner up” prizes in these instances.
GOALS!
Our goal is to raise $60,000 and complete 3,000 miles of biking, walking, and running together during the week of September 8th-15th.
Participants will have the ability to set their own personal goals, too! Do your best and don't forget to have fun along the way.
