Kim Benner, PharmD, BCPS, FASHP, FALSHP, FPPA is a Professor at the Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy and a clinical pharmacist at Children’s of Alabama.
After earning her BS from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Samford, she completed a residency in pediatrics at Children's of Alabama and became board certified in Pharmacotherapy. She teaches in many courses at Samford including pediatrics, dermatology, and research; she also practices pharmacy in the pulmonary division at Children's while teaching students of many disciplines. Dr. Benner performs research in pediatrics, cystic fibrosis, and pharmacy education and has authored articles and book chapters on similar topics. She is active in many local and national pharmacy professional organizations.
Kim serves on the Research Committee for the National Psoriasis Foundation, has recorded a podcast, attended community conference events and has been involved with the Birmingham PStamp Out serving as the Emcee in 2023.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, running and spending time with her friends and family. Kim is happily married to Jamie and has two boys she is very proud of: her oldest is an ICU nurse in Birmingham and her youngest will start college this fall planning to study health sciences. Kim has lived with psoriasis for almost 40 years and has experience with many topics and biologic agents.
