Take ACTION for Psoriatic Disease 2025 supporting National Psoriasis Foundation

Our 2025 NPF Impact Ambassador, Shawn Thomas, began his journey with psoriasis in 2018. He noticed red, itchy patches had appeared on his legs. Within months, the patches covered his legs and spread to his chest, arms, and face. His dermatologist diagnosed him with severe plaque psoriasis.
Determined to find answers, he read as much as he could about the condition and eventually discovered the resources at the National Psoriasis Foundation. He delved into the research of Dr. Tina Bhutani and Dr. Wilson Liao - expert dermatologists on the NPF Medical Board & Scientific Advisory Committee - and learned about the impactful work of the UCSF Goeckerman therapy program.
Shawn pursued an adapted version of the Goeckerman therapy. In just six weeks, Shawn’s psoriasis went into full remission—and six years later, he’s still symptom-free.
But he knew that despite his luck, many others couldn’t access the same treatment, as the Goeckerman therapy is only available at two clinics in the U.S. Determined to make a difference, Shawn teamed up with Dr. Bhutani and Dr. Liao to develop a telehealth solution, bringing this effective treatment to people in their own homes—no matter where they lived.
When he’s not working on Solay Health, Shawn enjoys searching for the best pizza in his home city of Chicago, baking healthy-ish chocolate chip cookies, and trying to improve his pickleball game. He’ll be volunteering at the NPF Fleur de Cure in Chicago. If you’re coming to the event, come say hi to him!
